Interviewed during the 5th Subversive forum 13.-19. May 2012. in Zagreb, Croatia
Eric Toussaint answers four questions :
- Can you talk about political and economic relations between Center and Periphery countries in Europe today ?
- Flexibilisation and precarisation of labor reduce workers’ options for short-term and long-term planning – employees are increasingly expected to make themselves available for working on short notice, and are rarely confident about certainty of their current job position. What other implications are entailed in this model of employment ?
- Is it possible to hold more than one class position in society -e.g. what could we say about workers owning stocks of bonds ? How do class positions in the workplace relate to those in the household ?
- As one measure of economic policy, you propose expropriating private banks. How might this reflect on any possible bank savings and overall economic situation of the working class ?
