We occupied the sidewalk marching around the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel's city block chanting, "Boycott! Sheraton! Boycott! Sheraton!..."
Occupy Anchorage marched from their corner of 6th and F (WALL) Streets, by 1st Amendment Hill next to Town Square Park across from City Hall and near the Performing Arts Theater, to join workers calling for a BOYCOTT, at the corner of 6th and Denali Streets, outside the front doors of the Anchorage Sheraton! Occupiers carried signs in solidarity with fellow members of the 99% the Sheraton workers, whose union was busted by the company.
A picket line circled in front of the Sheraton chanting, “1-2-3-4! Don’t go through that HOTEL DOOR! 5-6-7-8 Check out NOW its not TOO LATE!” and, “Downtown Anchorage should be AWARE! Sheraton Hotel is UNFAIR!” as the mass marched around. Around 4:30pm or so the mass encircled the whole Anchorage Sheraton block occupying the sidewalk on Denali, 5th, Eagle, and 6th streets. When crossing one of the parking lot entrances to the Anchorage Sheraton on Eagle streets, an SUV driver harassed the marching mass. Once arriving back at the gates of the Sheraton a circling picket line chanted until a bit past 5pm.
Remember whether or not your boss allows for your fellow workers and you to have your right as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (United Nations, December 10, 1948), “Article 4. No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery, and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. [Including wage slavery and debt servitude]… Article 23. (1) Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favorable condition of work and to protection against unemployment. (2) Everyone, without any discrimination, has the right to equal pay for equal work. (3) Everyone who works has the right to just and favorable remuneration ensuring for himself [herself] and his [her] family an existence worthy of human dignity, and supplemented, if necessary, by other means of social protection. (4) Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his [her] interests.” You do have the right to work in healthy conditions, to freely organize with co-workers, and to say no to corporate servitude.
Amongst the stars, we are all, the 99% and the 1%, but a piece of the universe united by conscious experience within a reality manifested by all of us that continuously evolves dynamic systems.
Now join us within a revolution of our most immediate, physical, and objective reality to cut down the overgrown weeds of corporate greed and corruption crowding out the roots of human rights in the United States of America and around the planet!
